In this column I will review, in the upcoming months, as many new al— bums as I can listen to.

From the onset I want to say, here and now, that the opinions stated are just that, my own opin- ions. I do not contend now, nor will I eVer, that I know-everything about music.-If I don't like a particular album that you consider one of "The Recordings Of Century", please let me know yOur opinions and I'll try to have dissenting views ' known:

Who knows? If we' re not careful we might just learn something ‘ about each other, or more importantly, some— thing about ourselves.

A terribly large order for one column to accomplish, so lets get started while we still have time.'

Herb Alpert Rise The Trumpeter of TiaJuana Brass fame‘is back._He has a new band A and a new sound. I just wish I could state that the change was for the good, but it wasn't. Most of the album sounds the same, pseudoe Jazz fusion mixed with Disco rhythm. The cut. . Rise" is an example of this. It goes on and on. "Aranjuez"_the final cm;meel%tsflk1ms some variety from the pounding Bass in the background. The use of

NonfEuropeon instruments, the Balalaika and Lyricon

is quite refreshing, proof that the album wasn't planned entirely mindlessly.

All things considered,

I would recommend the record to “one who enjoys Chuck Mangione. Its not Mangione by a long—shot, its Herb ’ Alpert, a weak Herb

Alpert at that, so you'll have to accept

Here's someone who gives you variety. She starts off Disco, then changes to Motown, and occasionally a hint 'Of Blues creeps in. The Album is good.

All I can say is, if you like the Motown 'sound you'll enjoy 'theialbum.

A "live in concert" album that has decent sound.Its all there and means a good solid Rock

. band that.hasn't tried to fit its self into ' a"New Wave" band. Some of the cuts to hear are "HangOver","Here Come The Cats", "Paradise Skies", which is currently number 5 On the charts. A Good Rock album.

What can I say about

a"New Wave" group that

insults my intelligence. An exercise in bad taste is all I can call it.

The most memorable cut is one called "Why Dont You All Get —ucked." I think the Skyhooks

should join the Electric

Models Models

A Canadian "New Wave" band that doesn't try to bother you (see above review). They give a good solid performance and have a sound that pushes forward. Their single,"Janie Your Wrong" is currently climbing the charts. A Group you should be hearing more from in the coming months.
