The evening sermon was preach- ed from Proverbs III. verse 6, “In a‘l thy ways. acknowledge Him, and He shall direct, thy path." Dr. Leg- ate drew attention to the fact that for every command in scripture there is always a corresponding promise. This text is of two divis- ions, Duty and Promise. To ack- nowledge God is not merely to be- have in Him, but means to recog- nine Him as our Father and the bestower of every good thing. We are to constantly recognize God as we go through life. This is the least and the most we can do. God does not require this of us as a tribute. but rather as a service due him. He is not enriched by our reccgnition oi Him. neither is He impoverished by our refusal or ne- glect to do so. None are too poor. none too humble. none too ignorant to acknowledge Him, to realise His presence everywhere and always. Those of us who strive to keel‘! 1111! commandment are assured that God will keep His promise. to di- rect our paths.

CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH

The services at the Central Christian Church were conducted yesterday by Rev. Carlyle Wetter- worth of Summerside, who preach- ed at both morning and evening services. The subject of his dis- course at the morning service was "Mother," in keeping with Mh.vth- ers Day. Mr. Watterwcrrth took as his text, John 2-1. “And the third day there was a marriage in Cans of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there." The speaker traced the great influence of Mothers in the world. itating the home was primarily the place of the Mothers of men. and the life of the nation was largely a result of the training received in the home. for which mothers are largely re- sponsible. He referred to the beautiful life of Mary. the Mother .of Jesus, and urged all mothers to emulate it.

At the evening service Mr. Wai- terworth's subject was, "Etemal Life" taking as his text Matthew l9-18. "And behold, one came, and said unto Him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?" He went on to show the difference between phy- sical life and spiritual life and described the parable of the rich young ruler with his worldly poss- essions, the thing which stood be- tween him and acceptance of Christ’s demands, that he should sell all and give to the poor, for he had great possessions. He had lived a good moral life and had kept the commandments but that was not sufficient. more was one thing he lacked before he could inherit eternal life and that was to dispose of his worldly goods and then follow Jesus.

The music for the day was. in the morning an anthem, "Still, Still with Thee". the solo part be- ing taken by Miss Nan Macxay, and at the evening service a solo, "My Mother's Prayers Will Fol- low Me". sung by Miss Bessie Campbell.

Mr. Watterworth referred to the fact that this being Mothers Day. he had great pleasure in stating his own mother had arrived from Bangor. Michigan and was in the audience as was also his brother. who ‘ " her here. She will remain in the province until August when her husband who is pastor at Bangor. At the morning service the text of the sermon was Isa. 49:15, “can a woman forget her sucking child. that she should not have com- passion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet will I not fonzet thee."

Raymond said. ZION CHURCH

There was a large congregation present at Zion Church yesterday morning to share in the Mothers’ Day service. The church was pret- tily decorated with beautiful flowers placed there in memory of certain members and friends of the con- gregation who have been called to higher service. Those who were thus honored by their friends and relatives were the late Mrs. Hec- tor Maclreod. Mrs. Annie Johnston, Mrs. F‘. J. Nash and Miss Sarah Mc- Phee.

During the service five children were received in the sacred rim of Baptism, namely. Gordon Frederick Brown. Annie Bernice Fraser. Earl Hammond Jewell. Sandra Eleanor Watson and Roy Augustus Wilson. A special feature of the service was the dedication of a club flag donated to the Scout Cubs by Mr. S. C. Moore and received on their behalf by Mrs. R. C. Parent, cub- master.

The sermon theme was the hon- or which belongs to motherhood and was based on the text Exodus 20:12, "Honor thy mother."

The minister. Rev. G. C. Webster. said that apart from the love of God there was no love so grist and no relationship so sweet as the love of mother for her children. Through
