I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those students who got out to vote in the S.U. elections on March 17. A respectable 38.8% of the full—time student population voted; a turnout asgcodasorbetterthan\ those of recent years.» I would especially like to ‘ thank the people who helped me with my campaign, in— cluding: Ruth Livingston, Ron Murphy, Will Gough, Chris Jones, Angus Orford, Steve MacLean, and Glenn Hynes. I would also like to thank Mike Trainor and Lachlan MacQuarrie for the fine competition they offered in the presidential election.

I offer my congrats- lations to the outgoing executive and council for a job well done and wish them the best in the future. I would also like to extend best wishes to the Class of '82 graduating in May and encourage them to remember UPEI by becoming members Of our growing Alumni.

For those of you who will be back with us in the fall, I also have a word or two. As you may or may not know, this is the last issue of the Sun for this academic year Much to my dismay, there is rumour of this being the last issue ever! You are the only peOple who can prevent this and we need you now to prepare for the fall. You can do a lot or you can do a little; it would be nice to do something. PEI Science} Fair opens {April 2 .

The P.E.l. Science Fair held annually at the University is scheduled for April 1 and 2, this

’year at the University Gymnasium.

Fair Chairman Don MacEwen says the number of students entering is higher than ever before, and that if applications continue at the same rate it will be a huge success. ' 4

A new development in this year’s fair is the inclusion of entries from Grades 4, 5 and 6. Prof. MacEwen explains : ” l was ‘invited'to attend the School Unit Two Science Fair which featured displaysby children in Grades 4,5, and 6. l was so impressed with their work that i decided to expand this year’s fair to include those grades. The Fair is now open to students dents in Grades 4 to 12. Sixteen -hund_red dollars -. in prize money will be awarded.

Thursday; April 1 is the day set aside for students to come to campus and set up their displays. The public is invited to view the displays on Friday, April

' 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Judging of the displays will

take place during Friday, with the prize winners! names announced late in the afternoon.

Information kits have been mailed to all science - teachers and school principals in the province. Students wishing to participate are asked to consult with their teachers regarding eligibility, exhibit " classification, iudging , awards,,‘exhibit space limita tions, and the'strict» rules regarding the use of live animals and the use of x-rays and radiation producing equipment.

Professor MacEvven notes there is no actual deadline for entry, but he would appreciate it if students would let him know . their intentions as space is at a‘premium and it is necessary‘to make arrangements" for display tables and electrical outlets. ' r
