Y.M C A.—The afternoon meeting for men in the Y. M. C. A. yesterday was led by Mr. J. K. Koss, The subject was ‘* The Human Responsibility,” the text being taken from Eccliastes xi—9. Addresses were made relative to the subject and several gospel hymna were sung. The Edieon Phonograph, which has for some time past been on exhi bition, was kindly loaned for the occasion by its owner, Mr. Jamee Waddell. It was oper- ated by Mr 8. Anderson and delivered severai chice selections which were highly appreciat- ed by those present at the meeting.

To Svemmasipe AND Rervren.— The steamer Fastnet will hereafter afford a most convenient mode of travel between Char- lottetown aud Summerside, Passengers will be able to keave Charlottetown for Summerside every Wednesday, and return to town on the following morning about 7 o'clock or earlier. The steamer is moat comfortably furnished, and passengera will be able to remain on board during the whole trip. Meals may be also obtained at reasonable rates.. Besides the pleasant ex- cursion which is thus furnished to all clagaes, business men Will be able to avail themselves of an opportunity of spendirg some hours in Summerside before the steamer leaves on return. Considering the withdrawal of one of the daily trains, it is probable that this trip will become very popular. The agent, Mr. W W. Clarke, has an edvertisement in another column.

Most people suppose that the manufacture ot tobacce consiste merely of taking the leaf and pressing and pressing it into plugs. The tact is, however, that the process is a very delicate one, and the least falee step will injure the flavor. The leaf must be carefally attended to for months afcer it leaves the planter’s hand. It must neither dry too quickly or too slowly, Even after it has reached the factory the utmost delicwy of manipulation is required. The weather must
