Caries YEo was summoned before the Stipendiary Magistrate this foreuoon, charged with ebstructing the public streets. It ap- pears that Mr. Yeo is contractor for sinking a water tank in one of the streets. and, contrary to the iustructions of the police, he did not leave a passage at either side of the tank, fit for a horse to pass through. He was fined 50 cents and costs, and ordered to make a regular passage, preperly lighted with lamps after night.

Supposep Loss of THE ‘‘CLANSMAN.”—The Clansman, owned by the Hon. Wm. Richards, Bideford, has been reported at Lloyds as miss - ing. It appears that this handsome vessel left Swansea on the Ist of February last, with a e:rgo of coals for Valparaiso, under the charge of Captain Gale, a mos: efficient and able sea- man, and since that time nothing whatever has been heard of her. There can be little doubt but that she has gone down with all) bands, and there is small hope of ever hearing frem her again. It is supposed that the cargo eaight fire, and this supposition seems very feasible as the Clansman was one of tie strongest built vessels of her class| afloat, and wag wellequipped in every way.

The Aurora, the organ of the Vatican, publishes an article favorable to the I[rish Land League, in which it says : In conse- quence of the insupportable state of the [rish peasantry, the people must shake off their oppression. ‘fhe crimes committed in Ireland are not attributable to the Land League. Radical reforns are indispensable otherwise Ireland will be compelled +o choose between anarchy and starvation.

Paris, Nov. 10.

The rumor being current on the 8th inst. at Turcoing that the religious decrees were to be enforced against the Marists, five thousand persons assembled before the doors of the Convent; shortly afterwards many members of the Catholic clubs ar- rived, and aserious disturbance between the two factions ensued. Sticks and stones were freely used, and several windows in the Convent were broken. The gendar- merie repeatedly charged the crowd, and sixty persons were injured.

The Chamber of Deputies having voted priority for the Magistracy bill by 28] to 106, instead of the Edneation bill, the Ministers sent in their resignations. To- day, however, itis announced that the Cabinet may reconsider its determination, and itis possible that something like a compromise or a vote of retrospective eon- tidence will tide over the crisis,
