GLIIPSES OF THE LIFE AND TIMES OF REV. DONALD McOONALD.

This volnmeot eleven chapters and an appendix" gives an account or one of the most interesting figures inthe history of P. E. Island. Rev. Donald McDonald was born in Perthshire. Scotland, January lst, 1837, and departed this life at Sonthport, P. E. I., Feby. 215%, 1867, aged 84 years. The first chapter treats of the first forty-tour years of his life work—including two years'of missionary work in Cape Breton.

In 1826 he landed on P- E. Island “with the history of which his name will ever be connected.” In the second chapterwe have an account of his conversion and the beginning of the first great revival under his ministry. “The Progress of the Revival?» is the subject of the third chapter." Here the author shows hirness and common sense in his treatment of this difficult question.
