Calgary Man Claims To Have Biggest Apple

CALGARY (C'Pl - There have been some mighty big things grown in Calgary but it's a sure bet Sam. Oonklin has grown prob- anly the biggest apple.

Picture 3 standard Size basket~ ball with a diameter of about nine inches and a circumference of 28 inches. Mr. Oomlolin has an apple five inches 'in diameter with a circumference of more than 15 inches.

The tree hearing this “basket ba " was planted last May, 3% months ago.

“It’s phenomenal,” said Mrs. Conlkllin. “I’ve' never seen or heard of anything like it.”

When he bought the tree it had a blossom on it.

‘My wife and I thought it would die when transplanted. Then it sprouted a small green apple and grew, and grew and changed to a lovely hue of yel- l 9‘ _

The tree was purchased from a nursery here. It was apparently bought by the nursery from an- other one in Post Burrell, Ont. Mrs. Conldin has plucked the apple, her husband added.
