MAQIITOBA FIELD WORK

Each time I work in Manitoba I feel more encouraged with the re- sponse. This time two unions were organized, Stony Mountain with sixty members and Rosedalc Com- miiiilty. Also Brandon became a Light Lliie Union, adopting two missionaries. Twenty-nine towns were visited in the five weeks’ work and seventy-six talks were given to 3.800 people. Fighting against the repeal of local option in several places has aroused the people and I attended Protest meetings.

It as the time of Aruiiversariss and Thanksgiving: and Rally Day services and I took part in all of these, speaking at five Rally Day services. Several good contacts were made at s. Sunday School Institute, where the whole pro- gram was built. around the sub- ject. Literature‘ .will be sent to many of these sunday Schools. I spoke at one of two W. M. B. Thank-offering meetings and took part in church services.

One meeting was of special in- terestr-a Women's Institute where several nationalities were repre- sented. A Jewish girl had gone home from school so interested she presuaded her mother to come.

The school wcrk- was most. en- couraging and tlie teachers very fine. In Carmah I was asked to stay and answer questions for Grade 8 I stayed half an hour and then went back for forty minutes more after dinner. In Cartwright the senior grades of the high school, after we had been in school all morning. surprised us by walking into the W. M. B. meet- ing and stayed even for the social hour, boys and girls. This gave me s chance to speak to them per- serially. '

A week was spent in Winnipeg District and the rest of the time throughout the province. Clear- water appointed a temper-rice committee for their town as a whole and this committee Joined the W. C. T. U.. as well as other individual members. I believe many of the places contacted will take up the Sunday School Contest this year. lvlirs. McNelll went with me to several places and distribut- ed literature.
