Discovery May Revolutionize Flour Milling

J.W.R.. Byfield and his assistant J. clarkson. in the course of research for a firm which manufactures most of the starch used in New Zealand.

Although Byfield and Clarkson have not given full details of their dscovery they say it takes into account a hitherto disregarded constituent of. Ilour and gives a new concept of the functions of the various constituents.

They claim that it is possible in most cases to blend lours or ad- just them during mil lng as a re- sult of their research so that the product will be of good baking quai- ity. The Marshall Plan, “one of the happiest suggestions ever made‘ in international relations," and the Geneva trade agreements last November were. he said, Im- portant steps to world recovery.
