A precedent had been set in the case of British Columbia. Mr, Big.‘ sett pointed out. The Pacific pm- vlnce had obiected whemunder the workings of the act. land taxes in arrears had been reduced in the same proportion as the other debts of those having their debts adjust- ed under the act. Following Brit- ish Columbia's vigorous objection the act was withdrawn from that province by the Federal Oovem- mcnt. The act could be withdrawn from here if the request came from the people through the Provincial

, Government.

Mr. Blssett said that he did not think the resolution should criti- cize too severely the administrat- ion of the act as he had had from ion to fifteen cases before the board of review each month and had found the decisions fair.

There was some justification for the act. Mr. Mutcli believed, but ll. ivas the administration of it that should be criticized.

At present about fifty' applicat- ions a month are being made iii this province by farmers to have their debts adjusted under the Farmers Creditors Arrangement Act, the meeting was infonned.

A resolution. requesting the Do- minion Government to enter into a trade agreement with the Repub- lic of Cuba whereby the market for Canadian potatoes there may be restored. passed recently by the ("~ti'lf‘ll0ll County Council of New Brunswick. was endorsed in prin- ciple by the Board.

A communication from the Pro- vincial Department of Agriculture informed the Board that the com- plaint from a Quebec man last fnil, (leciariiig that potatoes sold in Prince Edward Island bags. did not come from this province "was unfounded in fact." The decision u-as based on a report made by an inspector at Montreal after inves- tigation of the matter. The Board decided to inform Mr. H. G. Clack of lvlontrcal. who had made the complaint, of the Department re- port.

A protest against continuation of “apparent discrimination against the business interests of this prov- ince" by difference in express charges on packing house products wlun shipments originate in Char- lottetown as compared with ship- ments which ‘originate outside the province was contained in a reso- lution passed. Last fall a. repres- ciiiaiivc of a local packing plant informed the Board that express‘ charges were greater on ship- ments originating in Charlotte- i0W11 than on shipments consigned here from outside the province.
