Financial Aid Column
There are a number of bursaries I would like to bring to your attention, as the deadlines for these are approaching.
Bernardine Hall Bursary — Deadline is February 3
This bursary, which was first established last year, is once again available to Junior and Senior (female) students living in residence for two years. Students must have an average of 70% or more. A personal essay must be written of what you have participated in and contributed to in residence over the years. It will be judged by the Scholarship Committee and two people from Guidance Services. Application forms available in Student Services.
U.P.E.I. Memorial Bursary Fund — Deadline February 3
Several awards ranging from $125 to $300 are available for the second semester. Full-time students in any year may apply. One of the major requirements to be considered will be need. Application forms available in Student Services or Registrars’ Office.
Tourism Scholarship —- Deadline February 18th Tourism Industry Assoc. of P.E.I. $1,000.00 scholarship. Qualifications: Age 17 — 25 70% Average must be maintained Make an attempt to find employment in Hospitality

Federal - Provincial Programme of Bilingualism in Education The following programs provide financial assistance to: —- Students of the majority official language group in each province to acquire'a‘knowledge of their second official language and

1. Travel Bursary Program — available to Island minority language students who must leave P.E.I. if they wish to pursue post-secondary studies in French.
2. Summer Languae Bursary Program - to attend a six week summer immersion program in English or French to learn a second official language, depending on applicants’ mother tongue.

Inasmuch as our teams have been quite successful in recent play it is something of a pleasure. We believe we should start off by con- gratulating the Soccer

P.E.I. Team of the Year for 1983. A most deserving award.
After having no action
since 3 December the Panther -
Hockey team was scheduled to go to Moncton on 11 Jan. but snow & strong winds cancelled all travel & the. game has been postponed until a date not yet deter- mined.
It was expected that the long layoff of almost six weeks would make the team rusty when they entertained third-place Acadia at the Forum on 14 & 15 Jan. The first game belied that impression as the Panthers gained an 8-2 victOry in a game that didn’t seem even that close.
Sunday’s game, however, was a different story as, Acadia played well against a continually Shorthanded Panther team and at one time, enjoyed a 5-3 advan- tage.
Thrilling heroics, however, gave our boys a 7-6 win after a wild third period. We thought the play of the game, possibly of the season was Norman Beck’s skate pass (he had lost his stick) across. the goalmouth to Job Panusuk who gave us a 6-5 lead. Norm might consider soccer- or-— ballet after that one!
In this game Greg GraVel turned in a Gretzkylike per— formance as he scored three goals and assisted in four to participate in all U.P.E.I. scoring. This catapulated Greg into first place in the A.U.A.A. scoring race.
This ’past weekend the team travelled to Fredericton, where, on Friday night, they trounced the hapless Tommies 8-2, Norman Beck got three (none kicked in) while singles went to Albert Roche, Greg Gravel, John Pocock, Jeff Lantz & Ron Carragher. .
Saturday’s game against league-leading U.N.B. was a“ different sad story. We trailed 0-2 after one and 1-4 after two. ' ‘
