Friday's Yacht Racing.

New York, Sept. 18.

The result of Friday’s yacht race has changed the course of betting on the America’s cup race. Any amount of money is now offered at 100 to 75 against the Thistle. About $600,000 will be wagered in New York. The friends of the Thistle are as contident as ever.

Shot and Killed.

CHEYENNE, Wio., Sept. 18. A. Whitehouse accidently shot and killed Geo. H. Gordon at Laramie Wednesday

night. Both were students at Oxford, England. While hunting Whitehouse

mistook his friend for a mountain lion and fred four shots at him, killing him in- stantly.

Last week Samuel Mearns, of St. Joseph, Missouri, paid a visit to Kentville, N. 8. Mearns was a bachelor, and there he met Miss Katie Wilton, of Brockville, a pretty maiden of 18 summers. They were mutually attracted, engaged the day following, and two days after were warried. This is what some people would call transacting business with neatness and de spatch. 7
