Dehydration Plant For This Province?

A short. time ago the Provincial Government agreed with the Dv- partmeni. of Agriculture at Otiuiva that; a dehydrating pzuni would be established in Prince Edward Is- land for the purpose of dehydrat- ing potatoes, vegetables and other fruits, as the market requirements ma require.

qyhe viyopcised plant is a wartime production effort in order to pro- duce foods that may be economi. callv transported from Canada overseas.

Premier Campbell called a meet- ing of a. number of persons and proposed that an organization be formed to take the responsibility of the erection and management of the plant. Running at full ca- pacity the full plant. would require a. staff varying from 5O to 100 per- sons.

The Associated Shippers Inc., of Charlottetown are now endeavour- ing to formulate the necessary plans to proceed vyiili the organ- ization and at tile present time are investigating the possibility of a site and s, suitable person as gen- cral manager of the concern.

There are two of these plants being erected in New Brunswick, one at Hartlnnd in connection with the potato starch factory there and the other at Grand Falls likc- wise in connection with rho potato starch factory.

In the dehydration of potntoes. which at the present time will be the principal product, the weight; is cut to one-sixth of the original and the bulk to one-quarter so there, is an obvious saving of shipping space and other irons- portation facilities.

The funeral of Mrs, George Wea- therby, who died suddenly from a heart attack ou 26th August, was held at St. Peter's Cathedral on 28th, Rev. Canon Malone officiating. ‘Phe burial was at Si. Peter's cem- etery.

Mrs. Weatherby was born near Damacus 1n Syria and came to this country nineteen years ago. She re- sided here with her son Joseph Weatherby, grocer, on Grafton Street. The only other member of her family is a son George who lives in Sap Paulo, Brazil. Her hus- band predeceased her fifteen iyears irgodin Syria on n visit to his home- 1m

Mrs. Weatherby was well known and liked by her manv friends and acquaintances for her quiet and kindly disposition.
