to attend Mrs. Norton had to officiate at two births, one a boy and the other a girl. After the children were born and each mother asked to see her child the physician wus puzzled. Both infants looked alike, and for the life of him he could not deter- mine to whom the boy belonged and to whom the girl. 7

Mrs. Nortcn proved generous, however. She said that her family contained several boys, and if her daughter would like to have the male offspring she would con- sent. Mrs. Foster embraced the oppor tunity with alacrity, although to their dying day neither will be able to say whether she is rearing her own child or that of the other.

ELECTRIC TIRE PERFORMANCE

The advertising agents of the electrical, bicycle tire beld forth in the Opera - House last eveaing to a large audience. The entertainment was free, but an admission fee bas often been paid to shows not near: ly its equal. Prof. Carner, “the man of many faces,” as he is called, is a grand comedian, apd kept the audience highly entertained while he occupied the stage. His impersonations created lots of amuse- ment. His manipulations with the banjo were a feature of worth. ‘“Rastus,” the colored lad, proved himself to be a fine buck. and wing dancer The merits of “The New Electric Tire” and the Brant- ford “Red Bird” wheel were ably eluci- dated by Messrs. Davison and Mitchell.

Prof. Carnér, who has. made quite..a number of friends during his stay in this city, has done considerable theatrical work, and bears a good reputation, - He is axon of W. J. Carner, who has played “Rip Van Winkle” in this city, perhaps better than any other company.— Moncton Times,
