I'd like to encourage anyone inter— ested in having extra money to assist them in
their studies, to drop into
Student Services. and check
the available sources.
It's beneficial to plan ahead, so I would be glad to look into scholarships, bursaries, etc, , which are tenable this fall.
Below are a few of such scholarships.
CMHC Scholarships $7500.00 plus cost of travel tuition fees, and $1200.00 for each dependent for graduate studies in the social, economic, physical,
technical , administrative,
and legal aspects of housing.
The Board of Directors of the OPCAN Kathmavik Organization recently announced the start—up for the sixth year of the National Volunteer Youth .Service program known as Katimavik. This year Katimevik will place approximatley 1,300 participants in 39 community based projects all across the country. Six of these projects will take place through- out the four Atlantic Provinces and Katimavik Officials are now actively seeking community sponsorship for these projects. .
The lates recruitment brochure for Katimavik talks about "furnishing young Canadian boys and girls between the ages of l7.and 21 with all the ingredients fer growin fast and getting down to life." Katimavik is now accepting applications from any young Canadian (student, worker, o; someone looking for a job) in this age group who are Canadian citizens of sauna physical and mental health; Brochures are available through Canada Employment CBntres and most schools thorflughout the country. Projects begin in July and September, 1982.

KATIMAVIK
combines components as varied and complementary as discovery of country, community service, group living and interaction, basic manual skills,
survival training, a simple,
conserver life style stressing environmental awareness and self sufficiency. Groups of
33 participants are assigned to three successive projects
(one of which is_in a francophone environment)
in three different provinces, where they spend three months in each. Volunteer receive a daily allowance of one dollar and an honorarium of one thousand dollars upon cowpleticn of the program. Katimavik provides food,
accomcdaticn, transportation
and basic expenses for program activities. All activites revolve around
‘work projects useful to
the host communities.
