Just as Rome was not built in a day, so the transterence of our egg export trade from the States to the British market could hardly be expected to take place all in one season. But a good beginning has been made, and if we may trust all reli ible, non. political reports the first year’s eXperience will be on the whole satisfactory. The Sotish market reports refer to the arrival of Canadian eggs in couiplimentary terms, the Glasgow Herald of a few days go ssserting in its Edinburgh market report, ‘trom what has been seen of the Canadian eggs there is every reason to believe they will ultimately be a welcome addition to our resources in the egg line.” Coming nearer home, the London correspondent, under date August, of the Montreal Trade Bulletin has this to say of the egg question:

The Chureh of England in Nova

Scotia. (New York Tribune.)

In October, Thomas Whittaker will issue The Church of England in Nova Scotia, and the Tory Clergy of the Revolution, by the Rev. Arthur Wentworth Eaton. Mr. Eaton is a Nova Scotian by birth, and for many years has made a special] study of the history and legends of that interesting country. His coming volume treats of the remarkable emigration from the American colonies to Nova Scotia and New Bruns- wick of between 30,000 and 40,000 loyalists, mainly members of the Church of England. Not only was this emigration an important event in itself, but it has never before been adequately treated in any history, a fact that greatly adds to the interest of Mr. Exton’s work, The history of the English Church in Nova Scotia will be given, and the lives of some of the more prominent loyalist clergymen will be sketched.

Desrrucrion or Trovut.—A corresp ond- ent writes; There ig good reason to believe that whatever changes are to be made in the fishery wardens of our Island, the facts cannot be long concealed that our rivers and streams are nearly exhausted of trout and salmon fry. The Morell and adjacent waters are being ** scooped” every week during summer, for a namber of years, and sometimes daily, with drag- nets, traps, and all devices t» catch and destroy our most valuable fish, and that at a season when the fish ascend to spawn. So bold have sume of the poachers become, that a few years ago they ‘‘ducked” the warden in the water, which vost one of them a good penny, and the other had to emigrate. This poaching is not confined to country people, as many of Charlotte town’s ‘‘upper crust” often use methods to secure trout that would make an hones angler blush.

A very loving couple with some friends presented themselves at a certain clergy- man’s house and stated that they wanted to be ‘‘spficed.” All was made ready for the operation and the ceremony was being proceeded with when the solemnity of the occasion was upset by the groom who had been acting very nervously, bursting: out, “Hold on parson, that’s my girl over there.” He came near being married to the wrong girl.
