A Lively Eviction.

A Dublin despatch of the 4th states that the eviction on Lord Clanricarde’s estate were resumed on Tuesday. The evictors first attacked the house of a nan named Tully, at Cloncoe. The house faced the River Shannon. A deep trench had been dug about the building, the roof of which Trees had been sunken in the ground parallel with the walls, which were made much stronger thereby. The first attack of the battering ram was beaten off by means of stonee and boiling liquid, which the garri- son used with good effect. The attacking party was compelled frequently to retreat. Then the constables were ordered up on the roof of the house, but many of them were

A woman in Chicago objected to her husband carrying a revolver for fear of an accident ; so she took it out of his pocket and put it in a hand satchel fer safe keep- ing. That afternoon she went shopping and took the satchel with her. By some mistake the contents got jarred and the re- volver, which had been quite forgotten, went off and seriously wounded a messen- ger boy that happened to be passing at that moment.

The salary paid the average Iowa *‘school marm”’ by the year is $212.45. Presuming that her board and washing costs her about $3 per week, and her clothing and inci- dentals $50 more, she will then have a surplus of just $4.45 a year to build up # bank account, which in twenty years of hard work would amount to more than $100. ‘Truly it has been said that itis the honor that forms the chief reward of 4 literary life.

A funny elopement story comes from Maryland.
