A resident of Parkdale contacted it! recently nith some on Orin Carver. a former Parkdale and Charlottetown Wildcat of noted hockey fame. Orin move St. John's a little 0V0!“ a year ago to take over the duties of district manager for the Irving Oil Company.

Orin first left Charlottetown to battle in foreign hockey wars When he was 20 years old and lined up with a Halifax Junior club The Halifax club traveled to Ottawa that year to battle for the Memorial Cup. but were defeated by the Ottawa ag- mention. The following year (‘ai'ver lined up with Barrie F‘lyera in Ontario. at the beginning of the season. but returned to the Mm'ltimea later in the same season to play in the Maritime Sent 1' ague. wheti \lairitinie senior hockey was at a 1 level. Carver made his first journey in Newfoundland when he was 26 years old. was Trainer was extremely active in Newfoundland hockey circles at that time and Trainor obtained Orin for the ‘Grand Falls pucksters. Carver returned home the following season and it. was Incense of a transfer with the irving Oil company that he returned to Newfoundland. I '

Although. quite busy with his duties for the company. farver has found time to play starring roles on two Newfoundland Championship teams and is hoping to be a member of‘a third in the near future. Orin has two older brothers residing in Charlottetown at present whom were well known for their hockey prowess in former years. ‘

We are referring to Alllc and ‘S'lcip' whom have both re- tired from the game. but Allie still finds it hard to stay away rink and he is handling tihe coaching duties for Johnny‘s Flying Hanks. this season. We wouldn't be at. all sur- ' ' if some night Allie gels tired of his coaching role and you see the veteran winger back on the blades.
