The Turkish Commander at Brtoum has informed the inhabitants that the Russians will enter the city Aug. 27. The Municipal Government has announced that vessels will arrive toembark any inhabitants who do not wish to remain.

William Niblo, a veteran theatrical man- ager and founder of Niblo’s Garden, in this city, died to-day, aged 8.

In a prize fight at Harlem, last night, Jack Sullivan, of this city, whipped Bob Brown, of Baltimore. Both were badly mutilated.

The mortality at the South from yellow fever continues to increase.

In New Orleans, yesterday 135 new cases were reported, and 41 deaths.

There are nearly 300 cases at Vicksburg, Miss., and a panic prevails at Jackson, al- though no deaths have yet occured. At Grenada 70 deaths are already recorded, and the contagion is still spreading.

The Porte has received an official tele- gram stating that the Russians have sum- moned the Lazis to immediately evacuate Batoum, but the Lazis have refused.

The Russian General Staletoff has organ- ized an army of 75,000 Bulgarian volunteers, to whom the Czar has furnished arms and officers.

Some Austrian companies have been re- duced from 240 to 80 men.

A dispatch to the Times from Rome says :—*‘ Although the Italian Indeuta party has been disowned as not being the repre- sentative voice of the country, and though the utter absurdity of provoking a conflict with Austria has been fully confessed, the idea still exists in the minds of all Italy, and finds expression even in the most moderate journals, that a national geographical and ethographical unity of Italy is incomplete.”

Si,—I notice in this morning's issue of your paper that you say that all those who at- tended the Liberal-Conservative Pic-Nic at Tracadie, on Saturday last, were intoxicated.

1 attended that Pic-Nic, and may say I saw quite a number of gentlemen on the grounds who, I am positive, never tasted intoxicating liquor of any kind, and, with the exception of thcee or four fishermen, I did not see any one on the grounds the worse of liquor. Your in- formant, whoever he may be, has lied deeply, and | think it would be well for you to inquire into the truth of such reports before publish- ing such sweeping charges as those contained in the paragraph referred to.

The opening of the new winning at ‘‘ THE SYDNEY MINES” and the fact that the SYDNEY COAL now being shipped is all from the DEEP taken in connection with re cent improvements in the process of screening, affords purchasers a positive guarantee of the very superior quality and condition of the SYDNEY COAL now offered for sale.

It is a well-know fact that for many years past the prices of other Cape Breton coals have been regulated by the rates fixed for SYDNEY COAL; but while it is true that other coals, to get a sale at all, have been pressed on the market at various prices under the current rete of SYDNEY COAL, it is no less true that, taking into account the superior lastin qualities of SYDNEY COAL when po amt with other Cape Breton coals, the advantage, both as to economy and convenience, is in favor of SYDNEY COAL, even at a much higher price.

The General Mining Association (Limited) regret that they should again have to caution the Public against the attempts being made from time to time to induce them to buy in- ferior coals purporting to be ‘EQUAL TO SYDNEY,” “SUPERIOR TO SYDNEY,” ete., etc., while some pet more unscrupulous vendors have not hesitated to advertise their coalas SYDNEY COAL (from some designated locality). All these efforts to sell coal by such means are only so many admissions on the part of those who make them of the sTaNDARD character of SYDNEY COAL.

it has come to the knowledge of the Asso- ciation that in frequent instances parties giving orders to truckmen and ethers for SYDNEY COAL have been furnished with other and inferior coal. ‘The Public are cautioned against permitting themselves to be imposed apon in this way.

Every vessel loaded at THE SYDNEY MINES is furnished witha certificate of the cargo being Sydney Coal. Parties purchasing should satisfy themselves by demanding the production of this certificate.

The ‘‘ Sydney Coal”’ is registered under the laws of the Dominion, and unauthorized parties using the Trade Mark “‘SYDNEY COAL” are liable to prosecution.
