.Peter’s, delivered a Lecture, on \Vednesday evening last, on the sources, advantages, use: and abuses of Knowledge. It contained a vast amount of

interesting information, accompanied b many plain and practical Obser-

vations, and fully sustained the interest w ich had been excited among those who knew him, by the announcement of the Rev. lecturer’s name in con- nection with so comprehensive and interesting a subject. The thanks of the Institute were cordially voted to the Rev. gentleman, and he was guani- mously elected an honorary member. . ' Doctor Conroy will lecture next evening on ANIMAL PursioLoov.

- years a resident of Prince Edward Island, left his brother, under whose care he then was, at Brandford, Gore District, Up er Canada, in the Fall of1838, to return, as he said, to this Island, lint has not since been, heard of by his friends. He had for several years been labouring under mental derangement. He was about 32 years of age; stout built; in height about5 feet, 7 inches; his hair brown; eyes, grey; and complexion lair.
