-FUNERAL SATURDAY -The funeral of the late Dr. Mark Delaney was held on Saturday from his late residence on Spring street to st. Paul's Church where Requiem Mass was celebrated at 9:00 o'clock by Rev. J. H. La- Clair. Present in the sanctuary were Rt. Rev. G. J. MacLellan. V.G.. Rev. Leonard MacDonald. wellington. and Rev. J. N. Poirler. Egmont Bay. The last rites at the grave were performed by Rt. Rev. G. J. MacLellan. Pail-bear- Er: were Messrs. J. P. Hogan, Sr.. W. A. Gaudet, Henry Wedge. Dr. J. C. Sim-pson. -HORSE SAVED -What could have been a very serious accident occurred on January second when George W, Ellis of Mount Royal, about two miles from O'Leary. w.-is jogging his mare on the ice at Lt-ard's Mill Pond. While turning up the head of the pond, the ani- mal plunged through into about five feet of water, breaking con- siderable ice, but she could not get out. Mr. Ellis waded into the water and managed to ge-t't.'ie horse clear from the sleigh. He then had to leave her and ran half a mile to Where some men wex"6”'cuttlng ice, Quickly Messrs. Chapman Jelly and Thomas sil- liker of Mount Royal headed for the scene and soon succeeded in getting the animal out.

-CAB STOLEN. RECOVERED -A 1931 Chevorlet sedan was stolen from where it was parked on North Market Street early Sunday morning.- The thieves managed to start the car without the aid of the key which the owner had taken with him when he left the car. The abandoned car was located on Sunday, stuck

in the snow at Travellers Rest. There was no obvious damage to the car,

Hin- ton in the County Magistrate's Court on Friday. a party from Summerside, previously convicted of theft of money from a car in Miecouche was further remanded for sentence at the request of the crown. A party from Lot 16 charged with leaving a car im- properly parked on the highway near St. Eleanor: pleaded guilty- and was fined 35.00.

Brae United Church Annual. Meeting

-The-annua-l meeting of the Brae United Church was held on Friday afternoon, January 4th in the church with the rnlnlsler. Rev. W. G. Dickson of O'Leary presiding. The minutes were read by the secretary-treasurer, Fred W. MacLeod and were adopted as read. The report of the secretary-treasurer showed that the minister's salary was paid. also the denominational fund. such as pension. Presby- tery. conicrcnee and manse funds. The insurance on the lovely lit- tle rural church was doubled dur- mg the year as recommended by the official board of the 0'Leary pastoral charge of which Brae ll a part.

The Missionary and Mainten- ance Fund allocation of one hun- dred and twenty dollars will be reached when the books close for 1951 the last of this month. Mrs. Ivey MacFadyen reported. Of that total, 364.00 was donated by the Brae Young People's Union.

In addition the Brae raised 311.20 for the British and Foreign Bible Society and Coleman rais- ed 023.i-o for the same good cause. For the Cancer Fund 53100 was contributed. At the special Orange Lodge service the offering of 51046 was given to the Pro- testant Orphanage and there was collected 918.10 which was also given to the orphanage.

Mrs. James MacKinnon report- ed for the Brae Sunday school which showed an excellent year. The report for the Brae Young People's Union was-sent in byi thepsecrctary Mrs. Lorne Mac- Nevln which showed that this- activc group had raised tl1e.finc sum of 3162. They bought new hymn books for the Church, they gave Christmas gifts to the chil- dren and also to the aged folk at Christmas. They sent a Christ-. mas parcel to a soldier from ihe' district who is serving in Korea They made donations to all char- itlcs such as the Protestant Or- ptllanage, the March ofDln1es, C C.

Ford coach, driven by a lady from Wellington, sustained considerable damage when it left the highway at the curve in the road near the ice pond at the west end oi Sum-l merside about 430 on Saturday afternoon. Fortunately no one was injured although it is reported that five persons were riding in the car at the time, The curve

Most of the offices in the build- ing. the Unemployment Insurance Commission. the R C.M.P., the customs Department. the agri- cultural Department have been occupied for some tzme now and the only remaining part of the building to be occupied is the downstairs which will he used bv the Postal Department. The new. boxes are now all installed and they work in this part of the building completed and practically ready, for occupancy. It had been hoped; that the work would be done in time to use the new building for! the Christmas season but due to late arrival of the post office boxes. this was found to be impossible.-S

The death occurred last eve- ning at her home on North Misr- ket Street of Miss Constance Jean Burrows in her sixty-third year.

She was I. daughter of William T. Burrows and Margaret l-fall. both deceased. and she is sur- vived by one sisier. Amy. at home.

The late,Mim Burrows. who had been in ill health for several months, was for the past seven- teen years the efficient librarian in Summerside.

By her kindly and courteous nature she made a host of friends. by whom she will be sadly miss- ed. . The funeral will take place Tuesday from her late residence with service at the home at 2 P. M. Interme-nt will be in the People's Cemetery.-S.

On Thursday night, Jan. 3rd. there was a week of Prayer ser- vice held in the Bethcl United Church. Tile minister. Mr. l-leber Hardy. presided. Prayer was of- fered by Rev. C. 0. Hewlett of 0'- Leary and the guest speaker was Mr. Owen Underwood. minister of the 0'l.cary church of the Naz- arene who brought a very interest- ing and instructive message.
