Cancer control grant, $26,000. to provide for diagnosis and treat- ment of this disease. The Proviii- c.al Government began the foun- datiori of a diagnostic clinic this year under the direction of the F. E. l. Medical Asoclatlon.

It is hope-d that. all tnese grants will be in operation in the near future. Mr. Mathcson said. lie was fad to report that the Medical Association has pledged the Gov- ernment its full co-operation in connection therewith.

He stressed the importance of the work accomplished un-der tne Physical Fitness programme. and stated that it was the Govern- ment's intention to continue to initiate new health policies from time to time.

He reviewed briefly other ex- expendltures in his department, which for the present fiscal year total $l.700,000. The department is now the largest spending branch

Return To: City From Enjoyable Motor Trip

Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Ives. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. MacDougall. and Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Ives returned Sunday night from an extended motor t:op through the United States via Calais, Portland. Ports- mouth. Albany. Auburn. Niagara Falls. Hamilton to Toronto. While in Toronto they attended the greatest exhibition in Canada cov- ering miles of midway anti exhibits from all parts of the British Em- pizc. At Hamilton they visited the home of the Studebaker Corporat- ion in Canada-one oi the most- up-to-date and modern plants in all Canada.

Returning home they travelled an all-Canadian route via Belivilie. Cornwall. Montreal. Levis. Ed- munston, Woodstock. Sussex. etc. On the whole the road conditions were very good except some 48 miles under construction between Levis and Riverie-du-Loup. Many parts of the roads were 3 and 4 lane highways of very fine con- struction. The highways in some parts of Quebec Province arevery picturesque. winding in and out for miles, covered over with shade trees. In no part of their travels did they observe the same degree of prosperity as in the Maritlmes. especially is this true of P. E. Is- land which shows signs of new buildings on all sides. They all agree that the Garden of the Gulf is a pretty fine pliice to live in.

Every courtesy was shown them on their several stops during their travels. ‘Ilhis is especially true on the United States highway.

Predicting that the ceiling price of butter would be raised by he per month during the winter as has been recommended by the National Dairy Council on account of storage costs, Earl Ings went on to compare the price of milk in both butter and cheese mak- inZ- He stated that it would be necessary i0 raise the export price of cheese from the present 30% cents to the proposed w cents if cheese vvcre to compete at all with butter. He stated that "PEI. is thc only province producing its normal supply of butter."

The R.C.A.l". reported here that of the eight. men severely burned when the Orion‘: No. 1 hold ex- ploded after thc freighter rammed aground on the rocky western shore of Newfoundland. six were stretcher cases.
