And all thvse Catholics who thought we opposed the present Government too strongly, will now koow bow far we were wrong in our estimate of them.

The member for Casoumpec, Herbert Bell, Esq , and George Sinclair, Eeq , for Egmont Bay, were, we underetand, among the loudest in their denunciations of the Bishop's Me- morial. These gentlemen are like the frog in the fable, very much poffed up with their own importance. We never expected any- thing better from them, mmasmuch as they do not represent the viewe of the mujority of the people of their Districts. The people of Tignieb and Egmont Baywill now know how to estimate the asservations and *‘selt eawder’’ of theee very liberal and high-minded gentle- anea.

(n conclusion, we do not believe the Protest- tante of thie Island are fairly represented by such worthies as the Mesers Laird, Siocleir, Cameren, McNeill, Bell, Coles, Calibeck, and McMillan, No; we have a much higher opinion of owr Protestant fellow-colomiste ; we know too muck of their hospitality. in- telligence, sense of justice and fuir play,

The learned lecturer gave a brief and graphic account of the resvlution of the leading meu in England. who opposed the obnoxious measure of taxation, the agitation caused by it ia the American Colonies, and the final renouncement of their allegiance to G:eat Britain. He aleo showed that of all ihe French Officers in thie war, the Marquis La Fayette was the most distinguished and the most entitled to the gratitude of America, as hia services were rendered from a pure love of liberty, and not trem mercenary motives.
