Officials of the Covehead track told us this will be the first time @ race of this type has ever been staged on an Island track. What kind of a race will this be? It is called a demolition race and the word demolition explains the objective of the respective competitors. \

The last car to survive the race in which the cars are per- mitted to travel ahead, backwards or anywhere else they see fit with the objective being to put the other cars out of ection, ts declared the winner -

This columnist has a little difficulty seeing where there is really much skill involved in this type of auto race, but we must admit it should provide some rather interesting spectacles.

This race is open to all cars with the exception of stock- cars and the only safety requirements are that each driver be equipped with a crash helmet and seat-belt. Whether the re- spective drivers choose to have glass in their cars or not is up to their own discretion. . e

Some of .the cars competing in this demolition event will ~ be donated by Island car dealers and many will be privately owned entries. ; |

The Covehead track has had a-successful season this year and they hope tonight's feature event will attract one of the | biggest crowds to date and they plan bigger and better things for next. summer.
