FUNERAL AT IONA - The funeral of the late Miss Ellen Morrissey was held Thursday morning from St. Michael's Church, Iona. Services at the church and grave were conducted by Father Charles McCarthy. Pall-bearers were: James O'Shea, Patrick MoGarry, James Docherty, Bernard Docherty, Andrew Mc- Taguc, Joseph Kelly. Burial was in the church cemetery.

LIVILY CHASE - A truck travelling through the city yes- terday afternoon lost part of its load when a couple of crates holding young pigs fell on Grafton Street near the Public Library. When they broke the pigs es- caped and scattered in the neigh- borhood. S-pectators entered the chase and one farmer was suc- cessful in catching four. within a few minutes of the accident they were all rounded up.

NEW RECRUITING OFFICE - A new recruiting office to be known as N, Charlottetown has been formed here for the Cane- diisn Army. Reserve Force. It is expected that quarters in mid- town will soon be available. Leaving the P. E. I. Regiment to take command of the new station is Capt. E. R. Burke. Dr. Owen Curtis has been named Provis- ional Captain R.C.A.M.C. and medical officer of the new unit.

PLANE: RETURNS- The maritime Central Airways plane which has been on special duty at Yellowknife, North West Territories, arrived back last cv- ening. l-lcr pilotr during the month long stay in the far north were Charlie Trainer and liddie Blair. The plans also brought home a couple of former Island girls, now married and living elsewhere. They were Mrs. Arthur Jordan. the former Pat Clarke, and her three- yea-old son. Richard; and Mrs. C. J. Fear, the former Miss Pauline Simmonds. Mrs. Pear came from Edmonton while Mrs. Jordan ar- rived from Montreal.

Dr. R. D. McDonald of St. Peters. oldest practicing physician in Canada. on his Ddrd birthday this week conducted immunizing -clinics in the schools in St. Peters Bay and nearby districts.

President's Report Tile report of the executive committee was delivered by the President, Brig. W. W. Reid. He reported that the total member- ship on May 15 was 937. made up of 863 boy members and 74 adult leaders. There were 387 Wolf Cubs active in 17 Wolf Cub Packs. At present there are 476 active Scouts in the Province in 25 active Scout Groups. 20 Scout Groups and one Rover Sea Scout Crew. The Yis Men's Club In Summerside has formed two Group Committees to cope with the two Troops and Packs new active there.

Prince Edward Island Scouts enjoyed an active year in camp- ing. A total of 280 boys attended ten camps for a total of 1869 camper days. a considerable in- crease over the previous year.

Four Island scoutmastars at- tended the Maritime Gilwcll course hold in New Brunswick. and 20 Patrol Leaders attended the Provincial Silver Arrow- head courss held at Camp Buch- an. Fifty Patrol Leaders received Junior Leader training. Part A. and several other course were conducted through the year.

The annual financial campaign was a decided success. as 85.04735 was received from various centres in the Province. success also re- warded the efforts of those who worked to make the Apple Day a success. of which the net pro- cccds amounted to 3970.71.

Public services during the year included tree plsntin . traffic control, si Christmas oy shop and several Christmas lood turns. One rural troop made ll survey of the fire hazards and fire tlshtins equipment in their district.
