On the lat of September a fleet of 93 American and 79 British mackerel fishing vcs.-icls anchored in Souris Roads, and on the l5th we were visited by a fleet of 2l9 fishermen. ’l'lit-y report. that there are at present about 400 soil, (British and Arnericnn.) Ii-uliing mackerel on the coasts of this Island, the Magdalene, Mouth of Bay Chnleur, and Cape Breton, North slioro.

I regret to add, that some of the disordely of both nations made a considerable riot here, maltreated some oftlie Inhabitants. and des- troyed uome property. It is a pity one ofller Majesty's ships could not be spared to cruizn specially on the above Coasts during the months of August. and September, as it effectually prevents any riots by the fishermen.
