NEW PLAY POPTRAYS ERA OF REBELLION AND ROMANCE IN EARLY NOVA SCOTIAN HISTORY

HOLY GHOSTERS, described as "a powerful drama of rebellion and romance set in Nova Scotia in 1776," and the newest

produotion from the Mulgrave Road Co-op Theatre Company, will be presented on October

29 at Dr. Steel Recital Hall. The performance is. sponsored by Island

Community Theatre Inc. and U.P.E.I., Theatre Society.

HOLY GHOSTERS tells the story of a prominent family in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia in 1776, who are torn apart by the rebellion and political strife of that turbulent year, and by the arrival in their midst of a Charismatic stranger, Richard John Uniacke.

HOLY GHOSTERS is written by Mary Vingoe, whose interest in the period

and its characters was stimulated by Thomas Raddall’s classic novel,

"His Majesty’s Yankees." In her play, Mary Vingoe brings these fascinating historical fiqures and thier darmatic times to life.

The cast of HOLY GHOSTERS features John Alcorn, Roy Cameron, Mary—Colin Chisholm, John Dartt, Wanda Graham and

Ernie MacAulay.

A special feature of the production is the original musical score by Marsha Coffey, who has used a polyphonic synthesizer and a variety of traditional instruments to produce the

widest range of music and sound.

Period costuming for HOLY GHOSTERS has . been designed by Francina Cummington-Morgan. Set design by J.P. «Camus. John,

Kudelka directs.

On a positive note, we have many more mixers, fundraisers, and general entertainment planned for this year. But this can only happen if we get more involvement from more Ecomonics majors. Tell your executive what you want to do and not where to go. Let us know what time you can make the meetings and where they should be held (i.e. at the Barn over some loose mooses.).
