Jim’s Steakhouse | HAVE BEEN TO JIM’S SEVERAL TIMES, usually for lunches and have always enjoyed their food. Prices are very reasonable. For about $5 -$6 you can get a great lunch. The menu is quite broad, so that | can never quite decide what to get, whether | feel like burgers and fries or chinese rice. The staff are very friendly, and it is a comfortable restaurant to be in. | would recommend that you not go during “rush hours” because it becomes just too loud and crowded for comfort. Eat lunch an hour or two early or late and it is a much better experience.

disappointed, and | suppose | should have said something to the waitress, but | didn’t feel like making a big deal at the time. | have no doubt that my bad meal was the exception and not the rule. | also recommend the orange float. It tastes just like a creamsicle.
| do plan on returning to Jim’s, they have a
$2.99 breakfast special, and who can beat prices like that? Jim’s is ‘a nice restaurant to grab a quick bite, or on an evening out. | will give them 4 out of 5 cookies.

World University Services of Canada
BY LEO CHEVERIE EVERY YEAR, EACH FULL-TIME student at U.P.E.I. contributes $1.00 to a student refugee fund administered by World University Services of Canada. Over the past 10 years, 5 refugee students have been sponsored through this fund. The student fund, combined with the generous support of U.P.E.I., has made this possible.
World University Services is an international organization. Many campuses across Canada have W.U.S.C. local committees which coordinate student activities in the field of international development and awareness. A primary focus of past U.P.E.I. local committees has been the coordination of the student refugee program, on-campus development education activities, fundraising for projects, and making students aware of international volunteer and work opportunities.
W.U.S.C. has been operating on university campuses across the country from the close of World War Il to the present. During this time, the focus has shifted from war-ravaged Europe to the developing countries in Asia, Africa, and South America.
The national W.U.S.C. office sponsors international seminars annually in developing countries and participants are selected from universities across Canada. Students have
opportunities also to participate in international _
internship programs and regional symposiums across the country. A couple of U.P.E.I. students will participate ina regional symposium on refugees on February 18-20 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. A past U.P.E.I. local committee member took part in an international seminar in Egypt. As well, several U.P.E.I. graduates have found teaching positions in Africa through the auspices of W.U.S.C. However, first and foremost, many students have been enriched by their participation in assisting the refugee sponsorship program for students attending U.P.E.I. who have been forced to leave their home countries due to economic or political circumstances. It is a rewarding and eye- opening experience. Currently, the national W.U.S.C. office is interviewing potential candidates for Canadian sponsorship in refugee camps.

W.U.S.C. committee will havea booth outlining local and international activities at the Alternative Work Opportunities Fair. Any students, staff, or faculty who want to become involved with or learn more about this university-based organization are encouraged to come by, ask questions, sign up as amember, or share their concerns. International Development Week Films Canadian Crossroads International will present a film and night of information for interested students and the public on Thursday, February 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Robertson Library, Room 111. The film “The Midday Sun” illustrates on Canadian woman's experiences in Africa as a Crossroads volunteer. The program sends Canadian volunteers overseas for periods of four to eight months to work in fields such as health care, education, community development, etc. Returned C.C.I. volunteers will offer information on the program and on their experiences.
World University Services of Canada presents a film about P.E.I. farmers and international development. The National Film Board production “Farmers Helping Farmers” willbe shown between 12:00 and 1:00 in Robertson Library, Room | 10 on Thursday, February 10. Anyone on campus who is interested is welcome to attend.
