I ‘Plane Crashes

WHARTON, Ten, Nov. IIL-(A. P.)—-An unconscious pilot was at the controls oi an ill-fated aero- plane which bore two men to their death on an unlighted field here last night.

From his bed in a hotel today, Pilot C. F. Lienesch, a. veteran avia- tor, said he and the two passengers were overcome by carbon monoxide gas from the plane's exhaust heater over El Camp, 11 minutes away.

"1 don't remember a thing after we circled El Camp," Lienesch said. ,“E. C. Templeton and W. G. Gal- lagher, my passengers, complained

dizzy. In my subconscious mind. I must have kept the ship's nose jheaded for the Wharton landing field and attempted to bring her down in the dark."

Templeton, a Les Angela! geolo- gist, died almost instantly when the plane crashed into a tree on the landing field. Gallagher, whose home is Beevidlle, Ten, died in hospital today.

Lienesch received a severe bruise on the head but physicians said his condition was not critical. i
