The prosecu- tion is founded on the proceedings of

The whole question of the legality or illegality of leagues will then be gone into. A wind storm which prevailed here last night was the severest ever known in this section, and the barometer was never known to be solow. Wind was from the south, blowing between sixty and seventy milesan hour. A large fieet of vessels sought this harbor for safety and rode out the gale in the bay. The storm all along the Southern Minnesota Railway is the severest known in years. Passenger and freight trains along the line were blockad- ed in snow drifts from ten to twelve feet deep, and teams, with provisions have been dispatched to their relief from several points. The train which left Lacrosse on Friday has not been heard from since leay- ing Fulda that night.

All the cuts west of Faivmount are filled with snow packed hard. Reports of cattle, horses, etc., having perished, are constant- ly being received, but no loss ef human life has yet been reported. The worst storm ever- known in southern Minnesota and eastern Dakota is still raging. A long list of disasters is expected when the reports come in from the east shore ports.

During the storm last night the schr. B. W. Wells, bound in, with iron ore, from Escanava, foundered off North Chicago. Her mast alone remained above water. Her crew consisted of Capt. D. Hierkautf and seven seamen, who have not been heard irom and are supposed to have perished.

The Sunday News says: ‘‘A clique com- posed of a dozen or two very wealthy Re- publican capitalists of Wall street, on Tuesday morning received cipher despatches from agents at Indianapolis, Ind., report- ing that from an extremely careful canvass of the State they had figured up a Re- publican majority of about 5000 votes They immediately began to buy stocks, and on Wednesday morning, on announced success of the Republican party in both Ohio and Indiana, the boom was fully inaugurated.”

The correspondent of the News at Dublin, says:—‘‘ It is reported in well infermed, circles that the government does not intend to proceed against such men as Pafnell, Finigan and O'Connor, but against mem- | bers of local branches who participate in| the prevention of bidding for farms from| which tenants have been evicted.”
