Mernopist Scnpay-Scuoo. Eyrerrary- wext.—-A Concert was given last evening in the Second- Methodist Church, by the children ef the Sabbath-school, assis‘ed by the choir, ander the direction of Mr; W. W. Beer. The gudience was very large and the programme, which was a very,snterestin,; one, consisted of duetts, choruses, anthems, reatlings, ‘ad- dresses and recitations, ‘lhe entertainment was opened by the shoir singing the anther, “« How beautiful wpon the mountain,” which was well rendered. The children then follow- ed with s chorus entitled ‘‘ Greeting Song,” after which the remainder of the programme was carried ont. The singers were acéom-

ied en the piano and organ by Miss Jost aad Mise Edith Blatch, respectively, and on the cornet by Mr. Allison Strong. ‘The an- them, ** From Heaven the loud Ancelic Song began,” was really beautiful, and shows that the choir is progressing in capacity for per- forming ditficuit music. Altogether, we think the evening's entertainment was a very enjoy- able one, and the mana.ers deserve many thanks. The proceeds were about $40, which will go to the funds of the school. Rev. Geo. M. Campbeil, the pastor of the church, oceu- pied the Chair.

Church of Engiand Missions.

At the last meeting of St. Paul's Church Association, Rev. D. FitzGerald gave-some interesting statistics about the missions of the Church of England. He said the Church of England has now 184 mission stations settled over different countries, such as Western, Southern and Eastern Africa, Palestine and the districts beyond Jerdan, Persia, China, Japan, Ceylon, Northern, Southern and Western India. New Zealand, Maufitias and North Am- erica. It employs 495 ordained »mission- aries, 49 European | yor laries, and 2,230 European, East Indian and native teachers, It has under its charge 1,505 schools or places of learning, feyite in- siruction to 69,381 scholars. The native Christians engaged in the several missions sumber 134,894 pefsons, and the commnu- sicants amount to 27,488....The Church Missionary Society has been .most success- fulin Southern India, which was first oc- eupied by its agents in 1814. Now there are 75,000 native Christians, 22,000 schools and 15,000 communicants. North- ern India comes next in point of numbers ; after that, New Zealand ; after that, Cey- len

ve responded to the appeal from Ireland; and, in accordance with their best wishes, allow me to make the following suggestion.

Would it not be better, instead of sending Bills of Exchange, or mouey in any shape, to to transmit the amovat of the contributions wm the form of produce, particularly in that of potatoes, which this season can be so abund- autly furnished by our farmers ?
