Red Cross Loans Sickroom Supplies In Alberton Area

ALBERTON -- Alberbon Red Cross loan cupboard made 69 loans of Sickroom supplies dur- ing the year just concluded.

This service of the Red Cross was first made available in Albertcn through request of the local Women’s Institute in 1949. At the beginning it was in cus- tody of the Sisters of St. Martha at the Western Hos- pital. In 1953 Mrs. A. C. Green became custodian and she still holds that position.

As it became known that this service was available the public has made increasing use of it from year to year. In 1949 only eight loans were made. In 1953 there were 21. Since then the number has varied from 51 to 80 loans an- nually. the peak year being 19"
