The SS. Charles A. Dunning arrived at. Bruce Stewart and Company's wharf yesterday after- noon, and will undergo extensive repairs and alterations before re- suming operations on the Wood Islands-Caribou route next spring. Expenditure on the work will total about $70,000.

The above-water work will be done by Bruce Stewart and Com- pany Ltd. here. and the under- water work at Plctou, where the “Dunning" will go as soon as navigation opens next spring.

The work available for Bruce Stewart and Company will include placing of a new steel car deck, replacing the present wooden side- platcs with steel; a new passenger dcck and_ saloon. new upper deck land wheel house, installing new ‘toilets and wiring, converting the ibout from coal to oil burner and providing sufficient tankage for this purpose, also accommodation for women members of the crew. Much of this work can be done by the machine shop staff which has been continued almost un- interruptedly since the fire which destroyed other parts of the Bruce Stewart Co. plant.

The work to be done at Plctou will include bilge keels and a thorough examination and pos- sible repairs f0 the rudder post vvhlch was damaged while the boat was in service last sunlmer.

The Prince Nova has also dis- continued service on the Caribou- Wocd Islands route for the sca- son, and has gone to Pictou.
