The attendance of the public was not. great. Ills Excellency the Lieutenant. Governor was In attendance to present. the prizes. which consisted of money. Chief Justice liodgson and Mr. Roche assisted the Professors In the examination ofthc students. The boys of the Grammar School and the students of the College were examined in the class rooms of the College. We publish elsewhere a list of the successful competi- tors. Mr. Arbucklc, master of the Grammar School. and Mr. Itoeho opeucd the proceedings by examining the. pupils in reading. arithmetic. grammar, kc., after which Professor Anderson and Mr. Roche examined in the bigbcrbrancbca of geometry. spherical trigonometry. he. The classical department was presided over by Dr. Inglis. the Principal. The method of teaching Is highly satisfhctory. Lessons In arithmetic are intro. duood by simple examples for the various rules. worked out at length and fully explained, not forgetting ext-r- olsea on decimal coinage.
