Since the Student Union has forgotten its monthly payment to the Watchdog Committee for the month of April and the Sun's editor in last week's editoral mentioned our withdrawal- frcm activity, we would like everyone to know that

V the Watchdog is alive and well. ' We have’b‘een keeping a close eye on things down ’ at the 'Barn however, and feel that an accurate year wrap-up is appropriate for the outgoing and incoming executives. ‘

Philip "King" Brown, who is

still walking around with his head‘Swelled after the comments made in last week's editoral, seems to be every- ones hero. At the General Meeting held two weeks ago, Brown not only,unveiled ' his baby, the McArthur Report, but he also prom- oted his achievements during his term. He boasted of things such as how well the Main Events are doing, but in actual fact all the things he spoke of are in the planning stages and need much work to fully develop. King Brown should be given credit for what he has achieved this year, but one problem he didn't find a solution to is apathy.

Apathy still runs rampanthere at the university and was quite visible during the ' S.U. elections when only 20,odd % of the student body voted. ‘ Rimning the Barn, so Mr. Brown says, is like running a small- business, _5 so here's to the collapse of the business world if.

of King Brown and T.W., but she was left out in the cold. Many times Parlee worked behind the scenes and accepted no praise for doing so. There is more to a job than just the title and true interest is shown only through involvement— which Sue is always willing to be part of.

accept a little praise be- cause you deserve it. "T.W." McAleer came out smelling like a rose after last week's editoral. For someone who only drops into the Barn occasionally to receive his cheque, and check in with his superior J .T. Place, John sure made a name for himself. Perhaps we should lookat what John has done this year. Once a month he presents a monthly budget, compiled by J.T. Place, and T.W. has the difficult task of reading it. As usual, John makes a simple task quite difficult. Any- one,‘be they fool or a nobody, could read this ' statement to 20 some people on council. A credit must be given to McAleer for sitting on one of P.D. 's committees ,‘h‘dwever. Now the rose is wilted and you don't smell too good t.w. Now to our beloved Comptroller 'whose title will be eliminated after May 1, Neil MacKenzie. The

We'd like to send a bouquet (not bricks like that devoted business student gives out) to the UPEI SU Council. This is the first year in many that quorum; have been met and a speaker and recording secretary have attended every meeting. The issues

‘ discussed this year have

been of value to the studen- and have been discussed thoroughly before being passed. The only real problem was that of little or no gallery being present. As for Ms. Hartman's comment on the council trying to outdo each other and repeating things, it 'was our beloved Treasurer who at the last council meeting kept repeating everything that was said. John walked in late after wandering around campus for an hour looking for the meeting. Many long hours were put into such topics as the Restructuring Committee, which in itself took up some five hours in its first presentation. . Our hats-off to Council and its members — at least you tried to do things in the right way and criticism of the

level that was given was uncalled for. You are not a bunch of babbling idiots but rather some of the few unapathetic people around this campus.

When looking at the most noticeable outlet of the Student Union, the Main Events, we must give praise to Joanne Baglole and her not-too—often seen co-diairper‘ son Phyllis Norring. Your choise of entertainment has greatly benefited the social life here at UPEI as well as helping the SU bank roll. There are many other students who should be praised because of their involvemen' t at The Barn, but due to lack of space and possible editoral cuts, all we can say is Thanks to you all, you lmcw who you are.

To next year's executive, Terry "Undecisive" Palmer, Sue "Cornerstone" Parlee, Bruce "t.w.'s twin" Hickey and Patti "MacKenzie" Bradley, best of luck next year. We hope you can do the fine job next year that the 1980-81 executive and council did. It's sad to see that only 2 of these positions actually went to the polls, but this is no fault of yours.

To all students thanks for .‘ the support you gave to this year's council. For those who just sat back and criticized'without investi— gating the facts, keep up the apathy.
