Sreauinc Hay.—Yesterday afternoon, before H. V. Palmer and Samuel McRae, J. P's. for the County, Ronald Bell was convicted of stealing a quantity of hay from Richard Burke, Royalty, and was sentenced to fourteen days imprisonment with hard labor. A young fellow arrested as an accomplice of Bell was discharged.

Doinc Goop Work —On the Red River at Winnipeg a three quarter mile kite- shaped track has been scraped for the local horsemen. In speaking of the horses that daily practice there the Free Press says: W. J. Steele, of Prince Eiward Island, is driving the bay stallion Hernando, also the bay filly by Hernando, out of Guinea. record 229, which promises to be very fast.

Tue Market.—The attendance at the market to-day was fair and business was brisk throughout the day. Butter, fresh, was in moderate supply at 19 cents to 21 cents per lb. Eggs sold at from 2] to 22 cents per dozen. Geese were on sale in extra supply with good demand at 60 to 80 cents each. Ducks brought from 50 to 70 cents per pair. Turkeys sold well at from 70 cents to $1.30 each. Cheese of good quality brought from 14 to 16 cents per lb.
