Hiccough may be cured in a minute by |

one drop Ir Gelseminum (yellow gesa- mine) administered in water. This is a serious trouble with some people, but the remedy will not fail.

For Coughs and Colds.—A preparation made according to the following récipe is a positive cure for coughs and colds :—

Simmer one pound of honey in the comb und the jaice of six lemons together. skim, and when nearly cold add one gill ot juniper berry gin.

Cure for Diptheria.—Take a piece of camphor gum the size of a pea, lay it on the tongue; as it dissolves, swallow. If taken iu season, is a sure cure.

For a Felon.—Woaen they tirstcomience, bathe the part affected with turpentine.

Cure for Vomiting. -- Swallow smal) pieces of ice. Hold the ice in the mouth until the edges get smooth.

For Cankered Sore Throat.—Honey and vinegar tinetared with cayenne. Just invisten the throat,

For Gatarrah,-— Pulverized blood-root and gum camphct. Care should be used to take in very Smal: particles.

For Chapped Hands, and to keep them elicate.—Vinegar and milk—two-thirds milk. Also, (0 remoye stains from the hands, lemoa juice. To bathe hands, lem- on juice and milk.

To Prevent Wounds from Mortifying.— Sprinkle sugar upon them.

To Cleanse a Bad Sore.—Wash in a de- coction of Wwaluut leaves sweetened with eugar. '

To Take Castor Oil.—Boil with equal quantity of milk, sweeten well, stir together and cool. Chidren like it.

For Mending Jet Articles.—Shei lie is the best cement. Smoking the joint renders il black to match.

Rancid lard may be purified by trying i over With a little water, adding a few sliced raw potatoes. The potatoes scem to re- move the bad taste from the lard.
