A woman named Frances Campbell, aged forty, dropped dead on Tuesday night while dancing a Highland fling during a carousal in a house of ill-fame kept by May Somers at 92 Wolfe street. Dr. Lachapelle was sent for but too late to render any assistance. He at- tributes death to the bursting of a blood vessel. The coroner was notified, and decided not to hold an inquest. A Mystery.

How the family of nine persons, named Bird, residing near Kaufnean, were poison- ed, remains a mystery, Two of them have died, and the others are not expected to live. No trace of poison had yet been found in any of the food in their house. Foul play is suspected, but. how the poison was administered remains a mystery.

Caught in his own Trap.

CLEVELAND, Onto, Jan. 10, : Morgan Machainer, ticket agent for the Connotton Valley Railway, at Hartville, has for some time been missing tickets from his office. To catch the thief he set a gun last night, and forgetting about it this morning, was shot dead himself by it.

Masonic Honors.

Fatal Railway Accident.

AS importrnt seizure of soap imported from the United States by R L. Ryfkogle of Paryshoro, was made by Collector Townsend of the qustoms department at that place on the Sth inst, The soap is the Welcome brand and was entered by Ryfkogle at sixty pounds to the box, and the entry sworn to, On weighing the boxes each box was found to contain seventry-three pounds. The captain of the vessel-had his bills of lading msde out seventy-three pounds to the box in order that no blame should attach to him or his property.
