Loypox, Juoe 29.—The Chinese cap- tured by Seymour’s column say that the foreign legations at Pekin were burned.
The foreign diplomatic eorps was not with Admiral Seymour’s column.
Absolutely no trustworthy information has come from Pekin for two weeks, all the wires being broken.
The whereabouts of the legations ie unknown.
It is the belief of the Chinese that Prince Tuam has superseded the Empress Dowager at the head of affairs. Prince Tuam is the recognized head of the Boxers.
Grave tidings come from Shan Tung province.
The Wei Hsin mission premises have | been destreyed ; but the missionaries es- ‘ caped.

MILITARY NOTES.
The companies of the 82nd Regiment and the 4th Regiment ere drilhng hard these days. Yesterday Col. Moore com- plimented No.1Co, 820d Regt, on its |appearence. The other companie: will strive to win first place in excellence, and before the twelve days are over a great change will appear. The men sre now thinking of the military tournament cn July 2ud. Last o'ght six menof the 82ud Regt. and six men from the rural artillery had a tug-of-war, which was wou by the infantrymen. The Pownal company intend to eater a tug of -war team, ¢
Last evening No.1 Co., 4th Regt. C. A., were manceuvred at Victoria Park by Capt. Bartlett in the presence of Col. Longworth and Major Davisun. The company was in splendid form. Headed by the 4th Regt. “band the marck past was gone through twice before Col. Longworth, Ne. 1 Company wil] surely have some- thing tosay on inspection day. During the evening the band played several selec - tions at the park.
Next Sunday morning the militia will attend divine service in Zion Church. It will be composed of the 820d Regiment, the 4th Regt.,C. A.,and the Engineers. Rev. D. B. Macleod, Chaplain of the 82ad Regiment, will conduct the service. The wilitia will parade in time to allow those desiring to attend St. Dunstan’s Cathedral. The bands of the 4th Regiment and 82nd Regiment will be in atteadance. In addi- tion to Sunday being the annual church ae day it is Dominfon Day, aca will
