SUMMERSIDE Only the shell remains of an unoccupied home on Bedford Row that was badly gutted by fire early yes- terday morning and which was fought stubbornly for several ours by Summerside firemen
who were turned around 5 em.
The house is owned by Mrs. Vivian Gallant. Summerside and had been in the preliminary stages of being converted into an apartment house.

The building was situated be- tween two garages. owned by Robert Palmer and Miss Martha MacFarlane and was only a few feet from each of these. Mr. Palmer. one of the firston the scene backed his cars out of the garage and a fireman drove the MacFarlane vehicle safety.
However. the firemen manag- ed to confine the flames to the old building.

At any rate. the Summer- side Town Council has decid- ed to give it a try. and during the next blood donor clinic in Summerside. parking violators will have the choice of pay- ing their $1 at the police sta- tion. or avoiding the penalty entirely by contributing blood at the Red Cross blood donor clinic.
The council has taken this action to help increase the number of blood donors during the next blood donor clinic in the town. and all persons who receive parking tickets. an whose health will permit them to donate blood. can have the alternative of paying their parking violation ticket with a pint of blood instead of paying the usual cash penalty.
