one and 96 cups sifted all-pun pose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder. 56 teaspoon baking soda 1.5 teaspoon salt, IA cup shortening, W3 cup sugar, 2 well-beaten eggs, 1 cup mashed ripe banana. it our chopped nuts (or instead of nuts use 1 cup chopped dates).

Sift together sifted flour. baking powder. soda and salt. Cream shortening with spoon until light then gradually beat in the sugar. Both should be very light. Add eggs and beat some more. Add flour mixture alternately with the ban- ana puree. a. little of each at a. -time. beating smooth between ad. ditions. Stir in nuts or dates.

Bake in greased loaf pan 9 x 5 x3 inches at 350 degrees F., for about 70 minutes.
