The Auxiliary of the W. M. S. or New London United Church held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. C. B. Class on Thursday evening, October 5th.
The meeting opened with the worship service conducted by Mr! Morton Adams assisted by Mrs. Harold Mayhew and Mrs. Rail Macbeod. opening hymn was N". 240 followed by responsive read- ing No. '73! in the Hymnary. Mrs Bush Campbell then read an art- icle on 'i'hanl(s8iVin8-
The business period followed The minutes were read and ap- prm-cd, Roll call was answered by eleven members with a. verse con- taining the word "Thanksgiving". 1: was reported that the box mailed to Korea had arrived safely. An article concerning the appeal for overseas relief was read. it was decided to help by sending clothing, either new or used and by sending articles es- pecially for babies. The Secret-UV reported twenty-one calls made,
and sixteen cards and six boxes sent to the sick and shut-ins. Mrs
Harold Dunning gave the report 1
of the rally which was held at Hunter River. The thankofferlng to date amounted to 331.90.
Dedicatory prayer was offered -by Mrs. Marshall Constable. The report by' Mrs. Ernest Weeks of the 25th anniversary was read by Mrs. H. P. Found. The offering amounted to 38.25.
Mrs. Harold Dunning kindly in- vited the membera to her home for the next meeting, Mrs. Mar- shall Constable will be leader and the dedicatory prayer will he offered by Mrs. Harold Dunnimz. Mrs. J. M. Campbell and Mrs. C. B Goss will have charge of the program. Text word will be "peace" or "remembrance". Each member will also be asked to give a sentence prayer, -

A little card reading "Rosemary from the Ellen Terry's garden. For remembrance of her partnership with 'Bemie."' rested on the cof- fin lid as the body was carried by four men from the hearse into the" Golders Green crematory chapel.
Shaw's body will be cremated to- day and his ashes will stand be- side those of his wife. Charlotte. until their disposition is decided upon. Dame Ellen Terry died in 1928 at 81. mar years she and Shaw carried on a warm "paper court- ship" in hundreds of letters.
Today the body, in a grey cloth- oovered coffin. was taken from the Welwyn (Hertfardshire) chapel to his home at Ayott St. Lawrenca nearby.

The method can be used any- where It any time and is partic- ularly useful when loran and radio fail and clouds blot out the sun or stsrs. ,
The method is based on the fact that winds in I low pressure area -that, is, bad weather-move counter-clockwise and winds in a high pressure area move clockwise.
In other words. if the plane is flying toward a storm area, it will drift to starboard, or the right. Contrarywise when the plane moves toward a high pressure area.
It has demonstrated its worth on the R. G. A. F.'s Korean air- lift-a shuttle service from Mc- Ohord Air Force Base, Wash., to Tokyo maintained by the Thunderbird Squadron. ,
Twelve RI. C. A. F. North stars, with veteran crews from the Sec- ond World war. have carried men and equipment via the north- em Aleutian routo for the Korean war effort, part of Canada's con- tribution to United Nations forces.
Now let's plunge deeper into this new method of navigation.
When a plane flies from a high pressure area to a low, the pressure altimeter-(merely a. barometer calibrated in feetr-reads higher than the plane actually is (this can be dangerous, or course, when the ground can't be seen).
But a radar altimeter bounces a beam back from the ground or water and gives I true reading of height.
Comparing the two will tell the navigator what ldnd of weather he's heading into. even without a meteorological forecast before takeoff. If the pressure altimeter reads more than the radar altim- eier, then he's headed for a low pressure area.
F5'0m this. the navigator deter- mines in which direction he is drifting. But that's not enough. He must know by how much.
Subtracting one reading from the other and applying a factor which varies with altitude, the navigator finds exactly how many miles he is drifting and in which direction.

Widespread regret was felt by I large circle of friends, when it be- come known on the morning of August 16th. that Mr. 0. board Jiy. I well kmwm commercial traveller of Charlottetown, had met with a fatal accident, when his car overturned on the high- way from Montague to Charlotte- town.
He was immediately rushed to the Kings co. Memorial Hospital. but despite all mecifcal skill he passed away a short time after- wards.
The late Mr. Jay was the son of the,late Mr. Samuel D. Jay and his wife. the former Priscilla Jane Leard of Pisquid, who with his wife. the former Oseta Wood and two sons Bobby and Howard. are left to mourn the loss of a. loving and dutiful son and a kind and affectionate husband and father. A sister Euna. Mrs. Wilfred W. Gay. now living in U. S. A. also survives.

His funeral which was largely attended was held from the Mac- Lean Funeral Home on the after- noon of August 17th.
Services were conducted by Rev. Dr. H. C. Rice.
The pallbearers were Leo Toombs. Don smith. Jack Mac- Eachern. Howard Maclnnis, James Montgomery and Fulton Pierce.
The many floral tributes and messages of sympathy. testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held.

The death of Mrs. T. D. Ling on September 22 brought narrow to a large family and deep regret to L?” wide circle of lrienda in
heatiey River and vicinity and in Charlottetown. Mrs. Ling pan- sed away in the Prince Edward Island Hospital after an illness of more than a month. The for- mer Harriet Melvina Svarnan, she was the daughter of the late M1". and Mrs. Thomas Seamn-I. and was born on December 25. 1875. She attended Prince of Wales College and taught school at Cross Roads. Lot 48. She spent several years in U. S. A.. but after her mar- riage she lived at Wheatley Riv- er. In more recent years. 1929 to 1937. while members of her family were attending school and college, she resided in Charlotte- town. where she took an active interest in the work and fellow- ship of the Central Christian Church. Mrs. Llng's interests M310 numerous and varied. and she possessed marked qualities of en- terprise. Her husband predeceas- ed her in 1945. She is survived by seven sons and one daughter. William and Raymond. Wheatley River; Earl, York: Victor. Char- lottetown. Theo.. Kenslngton; Bor- den, Montreal; Elmer, l-ialifuxgg and Edith, Mrs. F. '1. Bowneaiu. Kensington. Church activity was dearer to her than the work of the Women's Missionary Society of which she was a loyal member for more than fifty years. she also was deeply in- terested in the Sunday School. And no worthy cause lacked her cordial support.
The funeral service was held in the Bedeque United Church on
October 25th. Relatives and friends came from varlous.Iectlons of the province to honour the memory of Mrs. Trueman. The service was conducted by Rev. E.S. Weeks for many years a friend of the de- ceased. He was assisted by Rev. C.A. Britten, pastor of Central Bedeque Baptist Church. The hymns sung were: "The lord's my
mepherd", "Rock of Ages" and "Forever with the Lord". In his address Mr. Weeks paid I fitting tribute to the life and character of the deceased.

Mrs. II was I daughter of the late David Iowther Ind Deb- orah smith Lowther, and was born on April 24th., 1804. at Carleton. on June 17th.. 1891 she was un- ited in marriage with Mr. uwis W. 1.. eman or Searletown. Therevwas no family.
Mr. T.-omen passed away in I922. In 1929 Mrs. Tmeman remov- ed to Bedeque Village where she resided until her death. she was the youngest and last of I family of ten. Mr. Thomas O. 'I'ruemI.n. an adopted brother of Mr. Lewis aruemon. is the only survivor of the "Trueman family'. He resides in Westorn (hnade. The late Dr aeorge J.
