About 400 students of the Ann Arbor College, Michigan, mostly of the law depart- ment met on the Campus to celebrate Hallow- e’en, and marched through the town singing college songs. The rest of the students tore pickets from the fences and made an attack on the policeman and rescued the prisoners. Several were hurt in the melee. The students then marched through

Recently some insured silks in a Paris, France, warehouse were destroyed by spontaneous combustion. The owner de- manded of the insurance company to pay for the loss, but the latter refused, claiming that that was not the kind of combustion it had insured againat, pointing out that by the terms of the contract it was relieved of loss ‘‘dve to any other cause than fire.” The case went to the courts, and on the trial the point was submitted to experts whether combustion by spontaneous com- bustion was destruction by fire. They said it waa, and the company had to pay.
