An instance suggests itself ill the Jones Gov- ernment's pledge of 194B withlregard tlo rural electrification. The Premier claims that‘ strides have been made in implementing this policy. but the fact remains that up to the last session or the Legislature not one_cent had been plac- ed in the Estimates for this purpose. When at- tention was called by the Opposition to this omission, the Government replied with stony silence.

Another Government pledge of four. years ago was assistance to co-operatives to build storage warehouses. Only three buildings were started under this scheme, alter which the Government seems to have lost‘all interest in the matter until the present campaign opened.

Another hardy perennial appearing in the Premier's manifesto is the promise of a steam- ship slip at Charlottetown, to be obtained "by working in co-operation with the Dominion Gov- euiment." The some pledge appeared in the i943 Liberal platform. To soy that it has been neglected ever since would be to put it mildly.

Reference is made in the Premier’: manifesto to Dr. Lattimer’s economic survey of the Pro- vince. This survey recommends, among other things, a policy of importing feed grains to this Island by vessel, with provision here for ade- quate storage facilities. What heve the Gov- ernment done in this matter? They threw out a Conservative resolution advocating this measure at the last session of the House, preventing ir even being discussed in committee on second reading.

The Government's manifesto stresses the value to the Province of the new Dominion tax agree- ment. Premier Jones, however, informed the Leg- isiatiire last March that this agreement was accepted only under protest. lt felis short by nearly a million dollars of the $3,056,000 mini- mum subsidy asked for. At the most, the Pre- mier confessed, it brings the economy of the Province only up "to about B5 percent'of what it is in other Provinces.”

On September 30, 1890, the Queen's County Exhibition and tattle show was held — for the first. time — at Charlottetown Driving Perk. under the auspices of the Provincial Exhibition Asso- ciation. numerous and commodlous erections having been previously act up for this accommodation. Autumn had set in. hut the weath- er was flue and exhllirailng, while exhibitors and sight-seer: were numerous.
