To sum up this book I found.it to be slightly superficial,as it is almost totally descripte ive. However, it is

The first annual U.P.E.I. , bowling tournament was held at the Showboat Lanes on Saturday, February 19. The winning team was captained by Larry Mac— 'Laren, with the other team members being Anne Mac- Laren, Barb Robinson, Peter Robinson, Mike White and Jim Martin. They were :undefeated in the seveh team, round robin tourney. The last challenge they 'were fared with was by_the John Ballem team. Ballem.was up against the wall, as he had to defeat the MacLaren team in the last round to force a bowl off, as both teams would ,have finished with 5 — 1 records. As it turned out _ the Maclaren team defeated' Ballem going away. Other members of the Ballem team .were Blaine "Bruno" Mac— Pherson, Colin Deacon, Robert Blowman, Anne Nolan Sand Mary Nolan.

.Bowling Tournament

Other teams competing, in order of finish, were those captained by John Dowling, Jessie Wheatley, Jim Griffith, Jean Mac- Ardle, and Gordie Peters. The bowler with High iAverage was Reg Flanagan ‘( 254 ), with John Dowling. as runner-up. Flanagan also won High Single ( 320 ). Barb Robinson obtained the High Average in the” ladies' category witha gscore of 186. Jessie -Wheatley was the Runner—up ‘and also had the High Sing-' 'le with 271 points. » Prizes were donated by MacDonalds, while trophies were donated by Roy Mac— Donald, owner of Showboat Lanes, and Jim Griffith of the Uniyersity. . H * Surprise bowlers in the tourney were Frank Strain -and Bob O'Rourke ( who bowled far beyond anyone's Texpectations at 160 ). ' A Special thanks goes to Freda Cox and Jim Griffith, for their help in the tour—, nament. -
