Step Taken To Curb Reckless Driving In New Brunswick.

At a meeting of provisional dir- ectors, probably next week. l5 dir- ectors re resenting all sections of the prov nce will be named, said R. P. artley, K. C., solicitor for the League.

A province-wide membership is planned, the sponsors hoping to enlist 2.0m persons who will pay a membership fee of l each, to be used for administrat on.

Each member will be given a number and report cards bearing the same number, said Hartley. member witnessing a motor veh- icle law violation will fill in the details on a card and forward this to the league secretary.

“This is the first provincial league of the kind in Canada," Hartley said. "On the other side of the border two states have such organizations and in these states the number o1 accidents is ve low. < " e provincial Government and the public works department are enthusiastic about the scheme.“ Hartley said the mere knowledge by drivers of the existence of the league should prove a deterrent to reckless driving.

“If a truck driver, for instance, knows 2.000 members of a vigil- ance committee are on his trail. he is not likely to go careening along at breakneck speed." the solicitor stated.
