Istanp Srupents Aproap.—The follow- ing Island students are at present attending the University Medical College, New York : John P. Wright, Cherry Valley; D. A. Stewart, Brudenell; B N. Johnston, Mon- tague; George Muttart, Montrose; W. G. Burke, Georgetown; J. K. Dorsey, Char- lottetown; P. C. Murphy, Bloomtield. James Handrahan, of Charlottetown, and J. McLauchlin, of Mount Stewart, are ex- pected to arrive there about Christmas. There are between twenty and thirty stu- dents from Nova Scotia, and New Bruns- wick and several from other parts of Canada. Altogether there are about seven hundred in attendance this year.

Bone Grartisc.—A very important surgical operation was lately pe:formed at the Charity Hospital, on Blackweil's Island, New York, by Dr. Phe'ps,one of the pref ssors of surgery in University Medical College, ard Dr, Klley, house surgeon of the hospita!. The eperation eopsists in the ergrafting of a piece of bore from the leg of a dog to that of a boy. The dog and boy ™ ill be kept bound together until the bones nnite, when the dog will be ent clear. The case is being anxiously watched, and it is thought that the operation wil be a success. The interest taken in this operation has revived discussion of other cases of bone grafting which is not very uncommon go far‘ag bones of the same species are con- cerned. ‘Lhe only case approaching the one now under treatment in the Charity Hospital wasthat of a woman in Chicago, whore detective jawbone was repaired with pieces of bone taken from a rabbit.
