Tonight‘! the night several mem- bers of the starry Abcglvcils of the zsrly 20s, together with former members of later Abbie teams. come out of retirement to battle the Rural Romeos hockey squad in an exhibition game proceeds of which go to the Canadian Appeal for Children Fund.

The game has caught the fancy of the hockey fans, Feats oi’ Prowse, Rodd and Wiilietns when they were ln their heyday are still runemberod and the crowd will sot I big kick out of seeing the trio perform as a unit. Members of lalcr Abbie terms will be out in force headed by Snag Squarebriggs. Walter Lawlor, Jackie Kane, Pud Whitlock, Gordon Stewart, Pay Stull and others and the fans will also see a team uiith the exception of the goalie from one family. The Archer boys, five of them, sons of Forum manager CF. Archer will perform as a unit in their turns on the ice and this part of tho pro- gram adds another interesting fea- ture to the setup.

Also expected to be in the line- ups of the Old Timers is Dr. Char- lio Dougon. a. smart netminder back over m years ago. Fred hioore, another of the stars, will be coach of the tcarn whilc out 0n the ice in a relcrceing capacity will he '.l‘.W.l.. Prowse, still another form- er Abbie coining out of retirement. Wilfred Inmian will be the other referee.

That i3 a brief summary of the Old Timers. How they will fare out against their younger opponents, 111% Romeos is problematical, hut it will be plenty interesting vrstch- lng the story unfold.

The Rural Romeos will comprise players from sfilwn. North Rillstlco, Hunter River and New Glasgow. They are said to be a rugged. free wheeling band of hockeyists who by their sppoarsnce will add much lo tho event.

The game will get underway at; 8.30 sharp. Tickets which go at a flat rate of fifty cents are on sale at all the leading stores and byl game time a capacity crowd is ex-l pected to be waiting for the start of hostilities.

AINTREE. England, March 21 -(C\P) - Sheila's Cottage. a nine-yoar-‘old bay mare which never has been rated a speedster. "Just stayed on" to whip First 0t the Dandies in a classic stretch struggle and capture Saturday's Grand National before one of the largest crowds ever to witness Britain's blue rlband steeplechase.

The first mare to triumph in tho testing four-mile 856-yord grind since Shannon Lass won in 1902, wrote a headline .for one of the most thrill-packed chap- ters in the lift-year history of the race which always has been full of sensations and surprises

The only other mare in tile field of 4d starters, Zohla, mistook the course at the last fence while com- peting hotly for the lead and ran out of the race.
