Chicago White Sox, who started out so brilliantly 11-0 triumph in that first game, are really on the ropes seems little hope of recovery. The Dodgers on the other hand are full of confidence and they are convinced that this world serie# belongs to them. They fought so gamely for that National League flag that they are determined that nobody is going stop. them from grabbing baseball's greatest prize.

The White Sox find themselves trailing 3-1 in the series and they can’t blame anybody ' but themselves. They threw the away in Chicago when Sherm Lollar was sent home and was out by ten feet at the plate. That play broke the back of the Chicago rally and after that young Larry Sherry was as tous, as they come. .
Sunda‘ afternoon they had Don Drysdale on the ropes from the very first inning but they were unable to deliver any knock- out blow. Drysdale flirted with disaster all afternoon and al- mest defied the Pale Hose to score some runs. They got plenty of hits and Drysdale was generous with his bases on balls. However, tke Chicago club couldn't come through in the clutch and the Dedgers- stuck in there until they finally won the ball ~ game.
IT WAS the touchest kind of a break for the veteran Dick Desovan who hurled a, terrific ball game until removed with two out in the seventi=’ When Lopez strode.to the mound and yanked Donovan in favor of Gerry Staley, the Sox had obtained nine base hits off Drysdale but not one single run. Had the Pale Hose been able to come through when the chins ‘were down, Donovan could ‘easily have been ahead about 40 by this time. But the Windy City crew couldn't buy a hit when it was needed and the Dodgers were at bat in the seventh with the score still reading 0-0. :
THE DODGERS had their first scoring opportunity fn the seventh and they certainly made the most of it. Gilliam singled with one out and took second when Moon was out, Fox to Klu- szewski. Larker and Hodges walked to load the bases and out went Donovan and tn came Staley. That move by Lopez sent Walter Alston’s eves roaming around the Dodgers’ dugout. He wanted a ‘money’ hitter for a spot like this and he spotted old number ‘6’, veteran Carl Furillo. It was Furillo who broke up that thriller that won the pennant for the Los Angeles club. This time he came through again with a single just out of reach of Luis Aparicio and the Dodgers were ahead to stay. It was their first chance and they made the most of #.
THE MORE we see of this young man,,Larry Sherry, the more we think he has a great future as a pitcher. These past few weeks Alston has put the youngster into some situations where the pressure was terrific. Each time he has been more than equal to the job. He exhibits a collness that would almost aggravate an opponent. Nothing seems to bother him as he goes about his chore of getting the opposition out of there. And he has got them out of there in a hurry most of the time.
Johnny Podres and Don Drysdale each have wins to their t in this world series but Johnny and Don would be the fellows in the worl who would go boasting about those triumphs. Both these hurlers know full well that only great re- v was able to preserve their wins. And yes- relief of Craig got credit for his first World
