As you may or may not know,the Student Judicial Committee was found to be unconstitutional at its last meeting.This is a mat— ter of great concern beca- use of the obvious power and authority vested in this organization and which war- rents strict control. I brought this matter before the council at its last meeting and was criticized because I did not keep it subtley hidden from the students.Rather,in their opinion,it should have left the matter in their hands.This was two weeks ago.At that time I asked Norbert Moran and Paul

MacAdam to arrange a me- eting and resolve this difference of interpre— tation.The constitution states that;

1) Membership on the S. J.C. is:

A)open to upper cla— ssmen only.

B)comprised of seven members including the chairman.

2) Quorum for a meeting is set at six members. Since then,I have heard nothing on the matter form either of these individuals.The— refore,I feel that I am Quite justified in sho- wing the ineptness of Norbert Moran in dealing

with the problem and the

lack of interest shown by the committee.As it now exists,the committee al— lows any student to take a seat,it comprised nine members of which five

are needed for a quorum. This was set up by the former chairman of the S.J.C. in an amendment

to the Constitution,or

so it was agreed.How— ever,I have since dis— covered that the amend- ment was never passed by the Student Union and so is meaningless.Subseque— ntly,I have no recourse but to ask that the S.J. C. revamp itself and fol- low the criteria set forth by our constitution as it now exists,
